A tragedy occurred on April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. At the age of 39 Martin Luther king was assassinated by James Earl Ray a fugitive of the Missouri prison, was arrested in London at the Heathrow airport, and was pleaded guilty on March, 10, 1969. King was announced dead at 7:05p.m in Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennesse, and king booked at room 306. At 6:10 a rifle struck the right side of king’s neck, and destroying his throat and spinal cord. His death led to riots in more than 60 cities, it was a tragic death of on of the most inspirational leaders ever
